for Scouts: |
Light of Christ
– Youth in Grades 1 & 2 develop a personal relationship with Jesus
with the parents’ participation. Parvuli Dei
– Grade 3–5 helps young boys explore a wide range of activities in
order to discover the presence of God in their daily lives as members
of their family and parish and develop a positive self-image.
Ad Altare Dei
– 6th
grade and older. This program helps the Scout grow spiritually as a
young Catholic by reading Scripture and doing projects that are
designed to help him understand the meaning of the Sacraments.
Pope Pius XII – Ages 15
and older. This program deals with different
life choices,
occupations and ministries in the church. It includes youth led
discussions on current issues facing the church and society today.
Light is Life – Boy Scouts, 12 -13 years old of the Eastern-rite Catholic Churches. Scouts in the Eastern Catholic Churches work on Light is Life rather than the Ad Altare Dei emblem. The Ad Altare Dei, Pope Pius XII and Light is Life require an adult advisor who must receive training. There are several trainings sessions held during the year for all programs. Scout
Emblem Counselor Training:
A practicing Catholic who is approved by his / her pastor
and has attended a qualified training session may counsel a Boy Scout
or Venturer in the quest to obtain the “Ad Altare Dei” and “Pope Pius
XII” religious awards. This training is provided twice a year by the
Catholic Committee on Scouting. This is a fine opportunity to share
